A God-focused life

What does it mean to live a God-focused life?

A God-focused life

Living a God-focused life means making God the central priority in your decisions, actions, and thoughts, rather than letting worldly goals, distractions, or the pursuit of success dictate your path.

In a world full of pressures—like striving for career success, wealth, or personal achievements—it’s easy to get caught up in what everyone else says you should do. A God-focused life shifts that perspective.

Instead of asking, “How can I advance my career or make more money?” the question becomes, “How can I honour God and follow His guidance in this situation?”

It doesn’t mean ignoring your goals or responsibilities. Rather, it means

  • Prioritising God’s values over worldly success.
  • Seeking His guidance in decisions, big and small.
  • Living with integrity, compassion, and love, even when it might not be the fastest route to material success.
  • Trusting that fulfilment and purpose come from following God’s plan, not just achieving personal ambitions.

In essence, a God-focused life is about aligning your heart, mind, and actions with God’s will, allowing Him to shape your priorities and your purpose, rather than being led by fleeting trends or societal pressures.

Here are 7 daily reminders

1. Seek God first – Put His kingdom above all else.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)

2. Think eternal – Keep your mind on things above, not worldly things.
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (Colossians 3:2).

3. Trust His plan – Lean on God, not your understanding.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6).

4. Delight in Him – Joyfully align your desires with God’s heart.
Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (Psalm 37:4).

5. Renew your mind – Let God transform your thoughts and actions. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2).

6. Stand steadfast – Focus on God for peace in every situation.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. (Isaiah 26:3).

7. Follow His Word – Let Scripture light your path daily.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105).
